Overview
Madhmaheshwar is the second of the Panch Kedar shrines, reached on foot through dense Himalayan forest, mountain streams and traditional villages. This yatra builds up to it gently: Devprayag Sangam at dawn, Maa Dhari Devi Temple, and the Omkareshwar Temple at Ukhimath — the winter seat of Lord Kedarnath and Madhmaheshwar — before a night at a homestay in Ukhimath.
The trek itself is long: an estimated 9–10 hours from Ransi via Gaundhar and Bantoli, graded moderate to challenging. You reach Madhmaheshwar Dham for the evening aarti and stay the night. Before sunrise the next morning, a short trek takes you to Budha Madhmaheshwar for views of the Chaukhamba peaks, before the descent to Ransi and the overnight journey home.
